Brain Fog

Brain fog is an unpleasant sensation of fogginess or cloudiness of the head that can be associated with cognitive dysfunction.

If you have Lyme disease, chronic infections or biotoxin illness, then you may experience brain fog quite often.  Your brain literally feels like mush, and your thoughts have difficulty traversing through this neurological goo.  Also, you may have memory problems, word finding issues, decreased concentration, and confusion. Brain fog is caused by the presence of infections and biotoxins (toxins from biological organisms such as Lyme neurotoxin and mold spores) along with the associated inflammatory cytokines from the immune system. The brain must use a tremendous amount of energy to overcome this condition.

Kill the Infections

Dr. Richey suggests that you find a Lyme specialist (someone who solely treats Lyme disease and associated conditions as opposed to someone who only occasionaly treats Lyme disease) to help you with killing the chronic infections which may include Bartonella, Babesia, and many more. Detox the Biotoxins

Neutralize the Inflammatory Cytokines

Provide Brain Energy

The presence of brain fog is an indication that the brain is fatigued and overworked and energy-deficient.  The best energy for the brain is medium chain triglycerides (MCT) through MCT oil from coconuts.

Coconut consists of three main types of MCTs: some capryllic acid (8 carbons - smaller), some capric acid (10 carbons), and lots of lauric acid (12 carbons - larger).  You would want to choose a brand of MCT oil that contains mostly/all capryllic acid and no lauric acid for best absorption and utilization for this purpose.
