Traditional or Classical Naturopathy

Achieve optimal health with traditional or classical naturopathy
from a privately licensed naturopath
and master herbalist
with functional health experience
who has also trained as a medical doctor.

Perhaps you have visited many medical doctors, and you realize that the medical system is broken.  It does not actually restore your health and vitality.

Perhaps you have even seen a modern naturopath, and you realized that there really is not much difference between modern naturopaths and medical doctors because both are extensions of the state.  Yep!  Both attend schools which qualify them for state licensure and therefore state-determined edicts.  And both practitioners often accept the same insurance which means that insurance companies along with the state are actually determining your disease management (as opposed to health and healing).

But you want out of the broken medical system, right?  Enough is enough. You are looking for something different. Something that actually works. But what else is there?

Traditional or Classical Naturopathy!  (Either term can be used interchangeably. We use traditional naturopathy on this website.)

Traditional or classical naturopathy has existed in the United State since the 1800s as a system of healthcare that does not use medicines or surgery.  It is a philosophy of holistic well-being (physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual) where an experienced and knowledgeable health educator teaches me to be my own best healer using my own body intelligence and natural self-healing power to strive toward my health potential and wellness goals by addressing underlying causes of health imbalance and removing obstacles to healing.

The human body possesses an inherent ability to heal itself through the mechanisms of homeostasis - restoring balance in structure and function and adapting to environmental change.

Benedict Lust (1872 - 1945)

Principles of traditional or classical naturopathy include the following:

  • First, do no harm with the most natural, least invasive and least toxic while still effective options.
  • Consider the interconnectiveness of the whole person (holistic) physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually in their environment in order to restore balance.
  • Identify and address underlying causes rather than just symptom suppression while removing obstacles to healing.
  • Understand and empower the healing abilities of nature.
  • Facilitate the healing process as a "docere."  See below.
  • Emphasize prevention of health imbalances.

Docere in Latin means "to teach" or "to instruct."  Doctor originates from this word, but a better word  in English would be teacher or educator.  Thus, the naturopath is an educator who teaches you to be your own best doctor for yourself.  You are ultimately in control of and responsible for your own health.

Your body is super smart.  It gives you symptoms to let you know when it is experiencing dys-ease or imbalance.  If you ignore or suppress these symptoms, it will only lead to more dys-ease.

Chronic disease never develops suddenly in the human body. Nature always tries to prevent its gradual development by acute and sub-acute healing efforts. If these, by any means whatever, are checked and suppressed, then they are followed either by fatal complications or chronic after effects, the mysterious "sequelae" of medical science.

Henry Lindlahr (1862 - 1924)

We have now reached the future as foretold by Thomas Edison...

The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.

Thomas Alva Edison (1847 - 1931)

Do you resonate with  traditional or classical naturopathy?

If so, Dr. Bazylewicz can help you because she is a traditional or classical naturopath (ND = doctor of naturopathy).  She is not state licensed in naturopathy (a good thing), but she is privately licensed throughout the US (another good thing) in many aspects of holistic health which include her many decades of health experiences

Yes, Dr. Bazylewicz is also a medical doctor (MD = doctor of medicine), but she now focuses on health and healing rather than on medicine and disease.

Dr. Bazylewicz will help you to understand how your imbalances have led to your current health status, and then how to correct these imbalances naturally by working with your body.   She strives to help you find and fix underlying causes of health problems.

In addition, she will discuss appropriate lab work with you as needed to determine your nutritional status and basic health markers.

Her recommendations may include physical remedies (supplements, herbs, essential oils, diet, nutrition, etc), energetic modalities (crystals, energy healing, etc), mental techniques (stress management, coaching, etc), and spiritual practices (meditation, etc).

Those who do not find time every day for health must sacrifice a lot of time one day for illness.

Father Sebastian Kneipp (1821 - 1894)

So, who should consider traditional or classical naturopathy?  The short answer is EVERYONE!

Naturopathy works well if you feel totally healthy and want to stay that way.

Or if you have risk factors in your family and want to avoid the family health problems.

Or if you are getting older and you want your health span to last as long as your life span.

Or if you have just begun to feel unwell or notice that something is "off," and want to get back on the healthy path instead.

Or if you have serious symptoms and may have been diagnosed with a disease, and you want to optimize your health with a naturopathic approach.

There are so many possibilities!

People are beginning to realize that it is cheaper and more advantageous to prevent disease rather than to cure it.

Henry Lindlahr (1862 - 1924)

Grandma Bazylewicz used to say that "if you do not have your health, then you do not have anything."
Grandma may have exaggerated a wee bit, but she knew that life is so much better with well-being and vitality.
